    steel wheel identification

    I was rearranging the barn and came across 3 steel wheels I hope someone can identify for me. Two are kh marked m 15x6 jj 6 , with a code 6 27 x it also has Kelsey ca , na, da, stamped on the inside of the rim. The other rim is stamped 15 x 5 and has a green tag in it with x40174 in large #s and kh 56692 in small #s. The first two have 4 inch bs and the single has 3 5/8 bs. Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Jeff

    Jeff,

    What are the bolt circle measurements? (4 1/2", 4 3/4", 5", etc.)
    What are the center hub hole measurements? (2 25/32", 2 29/32" or something else)

    15X6JJ wheels: Is the "6 27 X" code stamped near the valve hole? Are they stamped with the Kelsey-Hayes logo or something like "K-1-0"?

    Dave

      Re: steel wheel identification

      Thanks for the reply Dave. The only stamping on the 15x5 is on the inside of the rim and it is 15x5 J , the bolt circle is 4 1/2 and the ctr hole is 2 3/8 . There are no other marks on the rim inside or outside , nothing by the valve stem , the numbers mentioned before are on the green tag stuck on the inside of the rim . The 15x6 rims have small k27 and a larger 6 on one side of the valve stem and 27 FL on the other, the bolt circle is 4 3/4, all other stampings are on the inside of the rim. Kelsey is spelled out and the rest are as mentioned. On the face of the rim between the bolt holes are 5 raised bumbs three of them are marked one has an H the second has k2 over 7 and the third has a 5 , there is also a small t over c stamped on the inside, lastly the ctr hole is 3 3/4. I hope this is enough info. to ID these wheels. Thanks again . Jeff

        Jeff,

        The 15X5J with 4 1/2" bolt circles might be a Ford or Mopar wheel from the 1950's or 1960's.

        15X6JJ wheels:
        K27 stamping:
        K = Kelsey-Hayes
        2 = Windsor,Ontario
        7 = 1977

        "6 (valve hole) 27 FL" stamping:
        6 = June
        27 = 27th day of the month
        FL = wheel code used on 1976-1977 Chevelle Malibu models (GM # 331427 in my 1977 Chev. Parts Catalog)

        Are you sure that the center hole measures 3 3/4?. The "FL" wheel should have a center hole that measures 2.783" (slightly larger than
        2 3/4". The "FL" wheel offset is 0.50" which would translate to a 4" backspacing.

        Dave
