    Dash installation w/C-60 Help !

Would somebody label the top four holes on the dash for me . IE. which cable goes where. I think I have it right , but now's the time to make sure!

Then perhaps give me any hints as to how to get the top two inserted correctly . like proper cable routing behind the scenes , and length of cable through the hole once installed properly ! Etc etc. ... I know they both fish through the top vent duct work , but that then makes them very unmanipulative at the front end .

The dash is ,as of yet uninstalled , and I am still having fits ! That causes me to wonder , as I often do on this restoration , what I am doing wrong !!!

    I need PICTURES !!!!!

    Thanks ,
    Jim

Jim, I can't help you with the routing but here is a picture of the controls. If you can't read the labels they are: top left "Air Cond Pull", top right "Cool In - Hot Pull", middle left "Air Pull - Fan", & middle right "Defrost Pull". Good luck, Don H.

      Thanks Don,

      Big help !

Now I just need to figure out which cable performs which function , how to best route them , and how to get them all the way through the upper two holes !

For those reading this , I already have all cables attached at the other end . At least in the case of the upper two holes , Maybe I need to attach to dash first and then reattach to their final destination ??? I hope not , but maybe .....

been awhile since I did this but you need to attach the upper center duct with the hoses attached, and while you have the dash loose feed the upper cables through the holes in the ducts then work the dash into place. its not a fun process.

          Jim,
I have the instrument cluster and glove box out of my 67. Let me know if you would like me to try taking some pictures. The car is not very accessible right now. Years ago I replaced all the cables in another 67 I had and as Keith mentioned it took some patience but I think it was pretty straight forward. I would have used the service manual and the aim.
          Kind regards

              Thanks Keith and Wayne.

Pete , if you can get to it without a lot of trouble I would like all the pictures I can get . Not only to get this part done , but hopefully by getting it right , the duct work and everything to follow will all fit into place as well.

I already figured I had one cable mis-routed. Also I learned that after paint you should check the holes in the dash for clearance ! Duh !
So removed the dash , rereouted one cable, rasped all the holes ,then called it a day ! well probably not get back to it untill the weekend.

                  Thanks Pete,

However if it is just too much trouble , or especially if someone else throws in some pics before the weekend , just give it a pass .
This forum is supposed to be fun and informative , not arduous and a pain in the ..... !

                  Thanks again ,

Re: Dash installation w/C-60 Help !

Jim, I recently did mine and it wasn't any fun. Don't have any good photos to share. I originally hooked up the duct work ends and then tried to install the dash end. Couldn't get them to go so I unhooked the duct end and it was much easier. Only tip to doing this is don't try to keep the cables in the general vicinity as to where they will end up. I had to work one cable, that went to the heater box, starting from under the steering wheel to get it into the dash. Much easier to maneuver the other end once it is installed and tightened in the dash.

                    Good luck,
                    Don Stowers

                      Jim,
Here goes. It was no trouble, glad to due it and it was fun. Let me know if you want more pictures, some of the areas are obscured but if you need, I can remove parts for a better view.
                      Kind regards

                        Don

Thanks for the insight.I may well have to undo the current set up and do it in reverse, as you suggested.

                        Peter,

Thank you very much. Exactly what I asked for and needed !! Those pic answered more than a few of my questions. I may call on you for a shot of the other side, but I doubt it. This was the side giving me fits !

                          Update! 4:41 MST

Once you get the cables up and over the cross bar , or down and under the cross bar, and up and above ,or down and under each other ....like the pictures show ........... well then it is just too easy!!! I did not need to undo the attached ends on any of them !

                          Thanks Pal !
