Thanks for trying Jerry. John, I remember when you got #29. I had '62 #483 around the same time, but that one moved on as a project car. I had a NOS for that one too but sold that separately.

Don, I forgot I had this one here. I found it tucked in a corner. The box is very old. I actually went out about a month ago and bought a red reproduction for a '61 I have here. Then I found the NOS piece. I have both here and maybe when I get a minute I'll post some photos of each for comparison.

When I first opened the repro up, it is nice, but obvious differences to originals. At least they're available though and a fair alternative.

                Rich,
I bought one and found they do not measure up well to NCRS judging standards. It works and looks good in the car - so I can't be too disappointed.

                      NOS:
I'm pretty sure this is a GM part. Opinions please.

Reproduction: I'm pretty sure this is a reproduction.

                        Rich,
As usual, you nailed it. Bottom mat is clearly repro. Top is GM part, technically NORS. Original blue, beige, and red mats installed in 61s and 62s from the factory had the 7-digit part number ink-stamped, not molded in.

Don, As you know, that reproduction you have is just like the 2nd group of photos of the Red repro I have here. It's nice, pretty, and functional, but no where near the look of a original or GM replacement.

Thanks Mike, So it appears that because the one I describe in the first set of photos has the molded part#, it is a GM service replacement, correct?

I'll have to read my 61/62 JG again, but I think when I read it briefly yesterday it was confusing to me about ink stamp versus molded part numbers on black versus colors.

Correct--GM service replacement. Black mats had molded 7-digit part number, other colors had ink-stamped numbers installed at St. Louis.
Who knows why that choice was made, and why the change was made on service replacements? The mats were available from Chevrolet into the late 90's or later in red and black. Never saw a GM replacement beige or blue.

I have been looking for a beige trunk mat for my 1962 Fawn Beige car for some time. I haven't found anything that looked original that was in any condition to buy, or anything that looked good that was anywhere close to appearing correct. Oh, well.
