Re: WCFB carb problems
Really necessary to replace????? give me your assessment as to the need to do this. It begs the question of WHAT can go wrong with a steel ball????? so why?? I saw the cover and tried to remove by picking at it but to no avail. so it did not get replaced obviously or I would have seen it. On Q-jets I can see where the ball goes if I remember right but that too has been a long time. Thank you once again, Mike

Re: WCFB carb problems
The only problem I can see with the accelerator check valve ball is that it gets gummed up with sediment. I've never seen that in the 40 years of rebuilding them but anything is possible.
P.S. I use a product called "Seal-all" for sealing plugs , especially in Q-Jets, that works great.- Top

Re: WCFB carb problems
I've only removed those steel check balls when I've seen somebody before me had boogered up the thin metal cover and that had to come off anyway.
A properly sized, long 1/4" drive socket, lightly tapped, will seat the replacement cover nicely. Otherwise, they aren't worth fooling with....- Top
