Cold start RPM

The car is a 66 small block 350hp.

Is there a spec on cold start RPM? As the carb is set up now the startup RPM is 1100 or 1200. It creeps up to 1500 after maybe a minute or so. I checked the owners manual and the service manual and only find recommended idle RPM.

The carburetor specification section in the back of your '66 CSM lists a fast idle speed for your carburetor model, which is set with the engine fully warmed up. Upon initial cold start the fast idle should stabilize about 2-300 revs less than the speed you set, hot, within a few seconds and slowly creep up as the engine warms up unless you kick the throttle. For example the fast idle speed (hot) for the 3261S AFB on my 340 HP engine is speced at 1750 (hot), and a few seconds after a cold start in moderate temperatures it stabiilzes at about 1500. It sounds like yours are in the ballpark, but check the CSM for the spec and go through the adjustment procedure for your Holley if it's more than about 100 revs off spec.

I looking in the engine tune up and carb sections. Should have know to look at the specifications in the back.
