I finally started my 58 fuelie for the first time after being restored. I bought this car as an unfinished project, so everything was in boxes. No heat shield for the washer jar came with the car, so I found an original. I didn't install it because there are no holes to mount it in the inner fender well. I didn't want to drill any holes in case this was not installed on the early cars. Needless to say the washer jar started to melt and got ruined. This is a very early car, under 100. I thought that maybe the real early cars didn't have them until this problem popped up. This is the original body and it is a real fuel car. Thank you for any help.
