C-3 Door Handle
Some of my various Vette publications show a gasket under the door handles on C-3 cars, some don't. Is this gasket needed or not. I can't see the need as there is a drain hole at the bottom of the door handle. Rain or car wash water will get into the door it self. So on that basis should I gasket or not

Re: C-3 Door Handle
My 72 came with gaskets. There to protect the paint and fiberglass from cracking

The GM #3956022 seal was definitely used for 1968-69. I have conflicting information if it was used for 1970-76 but I expect it was. From what I can determine, it was not used for 1977-82.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

My 1-owner 1970 has gaskets at the door handles and door locks. For 1968-1972 the Exterior judges look at the configuration of those gaskets as an item they judge.Terry- Top

Re: C-3 Door Handle
Hi Gary ---
Looking at the door handle(s) you have pictured I see the gasket how ever I don't think GM would have used something as ragged as what I see sticking out from the handle edges or are the ragged edges from wear and tear?- Top

Re: C-3 Door Handle
I can see that to agree with Paul O. is why I will use gaskets. I will cut mine to stick out around the edges a smidgen (as Mr. Bosselmans show) so that the handle assemblies contact gasket material rather than paint. If this is not correct so be it, I am more interested in function rather than form.
Thanks for all the opinions and help on this matter!- Top

Re: C-3 Door Handle
I owned 4 70s back in the day (pre 75) all had the gaskets and my current original LT-1 (like Terry's) has the gasket.Michael
