Take a look at the photo on page 287 in Noland's book. Is it helpful?
    Kind regards.
Pete, It helps as it shows the cap windows but I don't know if the parts buck engines followed exact detail. And those are '60's not '61's so may not be applicable. If you look closely, I think those 4 photos are 2 different engines. Maybe it's my eyes, but I see 2 different valve cover styles, one with tall mount screw bosses(upper Rt/lower Left), the other 2 have shorter mount screw bosses(upper Left/lower Rt).

Hi Rich, Before I read your post about you talking to Don Baker I checked out your overhead shot of the distributor and it looked correct.
I did not know until yesterday about the location of the cadmium plated base to top clamp (holds the two halves of the distributor together)
screw. Baker said it goes under the cap hooked screw on the drivers side. Cool.
Baker has the distributor rotors if you like.
Corvette Servicing guide. You said 6Y2 Fig 2. Not much good is it.
So check out Fig 1. See the distributor cap installed on the FI distributror on right. But the pic doesn't have the clamp installed according to print.
Actually that's not even a camera photo is it. It looks like an artist drew it.??? John
John, Yes Don was great. He also taught me how to identify a real 1961 914 versus lookalikes, referencing the shaft football number, weight numbers, and the main casting numbers under the base. I learned this 914 is a real '61 not a made up one from other years. Nice teacher.

And yes, those are artist's conceptions in Fig 1 as are most of the St-12 Figures, so not the best reference. Don did say that there is a Corvette Service Manual that may show config but a later year. I'll have to poke around my books as I have some later CSM's here too.

Yesterday it rained so I never got to install and fuel up the unit and connect for first run. Maybe today.

Funny story, well..... not so funny at the time. I did the first power up of the car yesterday at noon and checked all electrical. All was perfect, except the left front REPRODUCTION Park Lamp. They had the 2 wires reversed in the bulb socket. So I had to remove the assembly, cut the 2 wires in the sleeving, properly rethread through the plastic socket disk holes, resolder and heatshrink the 2 wires, reinstall.......and then it was okay. Killed about a hour trying to figure out and repair that little offshore induced hiccup.
