    3956119 Shroud repair??

I bought this shroud to get the elusive 089 extension that comes with it. There is a small blemish right on top of it where it looks like someone left a drop light on it for too long. Has anyone been able to make a repair on something like this where it's undetectable? I plan on listing it for sale at some point and am just wondering if it's worth going through the trouble. Thanks!!

These shrouds are typically unpainted with a material "grain" showing. That would be challenging to duplicate in a repair.

An alternate route may be to repair with fiberglass, sand smooth, and paint it.

I repaired one with plastic epoxy. I added a black coloring agent for use on fiberglass boats to give it a match. It came out great.

Tinted epoxy and a very, very light coat of satin clear spray paint on the whole surface. The clear blends the surface finish

Thanks for the help on this. Any suggestions on the type of epoxy to use? I'm not a body man and am concerned with reproducing the correct cure on it. I'll see how brave I get before moving forward. I'd hate to make it worse.

I use a plastic epoxy, also called plastic welder , which is a two part product that hardens in a cream color. It is used on ABS, Acrylic, PVC, hard and semi-flexible plastic, styrene, vinyl, etc. Several manufacturers make it such as Permotex. If you did not want to add a black coloring agent to match the black; another method would be to spray a light coat of Plasti Dip over it to make it to match the black color. Dick's recommendation of a light coat of satin clear is also a good suggestion to match the finish qualities.

Is this the epoxy you used? If so, what did you use as a coloring agent? Thanks!

Yes, that should work. I used an Evercoat black #508 coloring agent. You can also use a molding tape to get the right contours on the shroud. This will minimize your sanding.
