    C4 PKE Transmitter Programming Problem

Hi I bought a new oem key fob for my 1994 LT1 convertible. I followed the instructions in the owners manual to match the transmitter to my car. Put the transmitter at least 20 feet away. Turned the key on (did not start the car), pushed the trip odo twice, push and held the fuel info button until the PKE light comes on solid on the dash, I then turned the key off but the PKE light just goes off and does not blink. Any ideas? Can't be an issue with the transmitter yet because it never got to the PKE blinking mode.

What is interesting is that the self lock feature is now working for the first time locking the doors and lightly honking the horn.

    Thanks.

That's how the PKE system works. Once in range it will unlock or lock the doors. There is nothing you need to do. The one button on your convertible remote is to open the passenger side door

Thanks Joe - those are the exact instructions I was following - when I turn the key off the PKE light on the dash just goes off and stays off it does not flash so I doesn't sync with my transmitter. I was wondering if that indicates that something is wrong with the system or if the directions are maybe not quite right.

If anyone else has any ideas please chime in.

I am guessing that you have the fob out of range when you are doing the learn process? VETTE magazine just had an article on the PKE system this month, that might be of help.

I havent programmed a fob in a while. Last time it was after I replaced the unit in the bowels of the dash. As I recall the fob distance played a role in the learn process. If it could get a signal it from the fob at the start, it wouldn't do the learn process.

That article in Vette magazine was what gave me the idea to buy it. Thanks for your help.

I think I have - done several different times - just can get that PKE light to blink when I turn the key to off.
