1971 Seat Shims

When I took my seats apart to reupholster them there were no shims on either seat but there was a piece of black plastic the same shape as the seat shim. As the seats had never been apart to my knowledge I am assuming these are factory and the shims would sit on top of them. Can someone confirm or??

I believe the shims are installed between the bumper and the seat, not on top of the bumper.

If you mean the shims sit on top of the plastic, you are correct. The round ones under the bumpers, and the rectangular ones under the seat back lock.
