I recently got ahold of a fan shroud from a '69. There are 2 seals still on it. They are both glued and there are some staples. Is this typical? Thanks!!

Re: '69 119 shroud seals
Yes staples - weird ones too - narrow crown with long legs. Forget about other lower skirt, mud flap or lower grill panel round wire staples - plastic shroud ones are smaller & much different.
Without the proper pneumatic stapler, you will not be able to re-install - unless you could re-use them & their holes.
Glue? Define glue. 68-77 shroud seals all had PSA = pressure sensitive adhesive - but not much of a surface area on the side seals to ensure reliable contact with shroud proper. Hence: those weird staples. Judicious application of 3M black w/s adhesive on the edge without the PSA will assist retention & cannot be seen once installed.
PSA: two types used by GM: direct coat - glue sprayed on rubber & then covered with protective paper. Double polyester film: glue sprayed on both sides of clear polyester film - then stuck to rubber & then covered with protective paper. Often Gray snake skin like remnants of PSA polyester film are found where the rubber parts have departed. It's wrinkled because the rubber shrinks throughout it's life & wrinkles the film.- Top

Re: '69 119 shroud seals
Thanks, it all looks original but I wasn't sure if it was an attempt to fix something that needed repair or a factory thing. When I replaced the seals on my '72 I didn't see evidence of staples, may have been an early C3 thing. Thanks for the info.- Top
