    New C2 bumpers, import and domestic.

    I see one can now purchase reproduction bumpers sourced as both import and domestic.
    The local chrome shop does good work but takes months.
    I am considering purchasing new replacements instead of waiting.

    How about some feedback on the fit and finish of both the imports and the domestic bumpers?
    I just might go that route. I am waiting till the car is painted and assembled to purchase the bumpers so I can fit check them when they arrive be that re-chromed or new. Should happen in the next month or so.
    Thanks in advance.

    Rich,
    If your current bumpers are original to the car, my personal suggestion would to have them re-chromed. Contact Paul's Chrome. You're going to hear all kinds of comments, I'm sure, on the reproduction bumpers...lots of horror stories and some not so bad. Whichever route you decide to go, you need to fit the bumpers to the car BEFORE paint for best results...and best chance of NOT screwing up a new paint job.

      I recently picked up a 65 BB conv. that had the typical 70's modification of removing the front bumpers. I ordered all the brackets and U.S. made bumpers from Paragon. Everything lined up and fit perfectly. I agree that if you have the originals, have them rechromed. That's what I'll do with the rear bumpers but I had nothing to start with on the front. I went with the best available and was NOT disappointed at all.

        I ordered a new set from Paragon. Front and Rear. These were shipped in excellent condition from them. I have them on my 66 Coupe and they look great. Now I will have them judged in May. So I'll let you know what the judges have to say about them. Chapter level for now, Regional & National level later. I also orded all the bolts from Paragon. There is a guy on ebay that has all the orginal bolts, nuts, washers, cost is $2500.00. I may take a hit on orginal hardware for that price. I suggest seeing how your old ones fit the car, if they are a good fit, rechrome them. Good Luck

            Everyone;
            Thanks for the input. I have been keeping my car as original as possible. Including re-plating the bumper bolts. I will contact Paul's Chrome to see if i can get a quicker turn-around. Waiting over four months for a couple small parts and still don't have them back. Glad to hear the USA bumpers were excellent. That will be my choice if I go that route. In the 90's I had a NOS set that I sold. On the bottoms of the bumpers they had very little chrome and the finish, on the bottom was non-existent. Wishing I had them now..
