The number molded into the camshaft casting is the finished camshaft part number/drawing number, but you won't find it in any parts catalog. That's because replacement cams are an "assembly" consisting of finished camshaft and indexing pin. The finished camshaft and cam/pin assembly part numbers are sometimes sequential - not always, but rarely vary by more than about 50 since the paperwork for both went through the system together. For example the '57-up Duntov cam finished camshaft assembly is ...098 and the cam/pin assembly sold OTC is ...097. In my parts references I don't find anything close enough to be a candidate, and I don't even know if it's a Chevrolet part or other GM division, but Joe L. can probably nail it down.- Top

John------
This is a tough one. At the moment, I cannot positively identify it. I can tell you this about it, though:
----it was almost certainly released sometime in the 1958-59 period;
----I can find NO Chevrolet passenger car or light truck application for it;
----it is a Chevrolet part number but that does not guarantee that it was ever used on a Chevrolet application;
----it was discontinued from SERVICE sometime in the 1976-81 time period.
At this point my guess would be that this was a camshaft for a non-Chevrolet application, a HD truck application, or an industrial engine application.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
