I have seen this amazing bubble top for the 53 to 55.. Does anyone know who made these? Was this something someone custom made in the 2000s or was it available in the 50s? I want one...

Re: 1953 54 55 Bubble Top
Al, these were made by a company called "Plasticon". They made hardtops for several different sports cars way back when. I have some info from them - dated 1960.
I also know a person that has (or had) one of these, but it was just the fiberglass, and I don't know the condition.
I don't know if he still has it, or if he is willing to sell it. He will never use it, or do anything with it, he just collects stuff.
If you are still interested, I can probably find out.

Re: 1953 54 55 Bubble Top
Roy sold the tooling he made a few years ago. Never heard of anyone making them again. He made them for the 53 to 55 and 56 to 60 as well. Rich- Top

Re: 1953 54 55 Bubble Top
Well I spoke to the guy at Model Builders. He was helpful in his knowledge of the ones his father had built. However he no longer has the molds. I work with a company that produces the acrylics and Plexiglas type sheets.. so the materials to do the job. . $43 for a qrt inch to 1 inch 8x8 sheet. I can have the item formed with our heat and press..if i had the mold.- Top
