63 vin plate grind marks and spot weld

I always thought that prior to spot welding the vin plate on, the area either side had grind marks to remove the paint, this one does not seem to show any signs ?

Keith, some one may have painted the area, it appears a little rusty in the picture. I know some of the very early cars had some issues with the tags staying put, hence the grinding marks.

Grinding was still used into March 1964

What is the trim tag information? If you post a picture of the tag I can probably tell you if it lines up with the serial tag and with other cars built near it in '63.

Have requested the trim tag of the SWC in first picture, however here's one of mine any comments always welcome thanks Keith
