C-3 Wiper Mechanism

I have my C-3 wiper mechanism setting on my garage floor. I wish to rebuild the unit. It all looks to be in fair+ condition except the plastic bushings. How do I disassemble all the joints holding this thing together??? Are the plastic (looks like maybe two piece)bushings available? The linkage pivot joints appear to be riveted while the long shaft ends look like some form of a welded cap.
Any help from our most knowable membership will be greatly appreciated

Sounds like you might want to consider sending it to a rebuilder and it will come back looking great and have new bushings installed.

Call Restoration Service at 1 708 687-4183 in Midlothian, Ill.

Most instrument services use Steve Hackel anyway so cut out the middle man.

Steve did mention a few people that used to do it but no longer. I did talk to a couple of people here in So.Cal. and they suggested finding a supplier and buying a new (repop) one as completely rebuilding an existing unit is so labor intensive it is not worth there time or money. So off to C.C. and order a new one for +/- 4 bills.

I intend to order on from C.C. but have not done so as of yet. Their price was/is +/- 375 $. I am on medical hiatus from the car for sometime due to rotator cuff surgery yesterday which will have me immobile for the foreseeable future. Right handed, Right shoulder and bicep tear, Bummer!!!!

I believe that Paragon rebuilds these wiper door mechanisms.

Just noticed your post. If you obtain the book "1970 Chassis Service Manual" covering Chevrolet/Chevelle/Monte Carlo/Nova/1969 Corvette ( Gold Cover) you'll find a very good breakdown of the Wiper Transmission and repair from page 12-33 forward to I believe 12-49.
As for parts, good question but I can't believe they are not obtainable. Sorry only picture I had of the manual face cover.

Without digging into stacks of notes I do not have C.C. # handy. I would suggest you check Joe Lucia's post. If it is as he says it will be excellent buy. I may even look into it myself. If the price is right it will be a good deal

What is "low miles " I am more interested in age than miles. -- Any additional pics ? My concern is the white nylon bushings. Any cracking ?
