    Part Number assistance

I'm looking for the part numbers of the LH and RH 63 to 67 coupe door front channel liner, Really interested in the 63 number if it is unique. As a reference it's Paragon part number 1459K .The unit was installed as an assembly therefore no part number in the AIM that I can find. Been in the archives for about 15 minutes and can't find it there.

    Thanks

Harry I checked GM 1974 corvette parts catalog and GM 1938-oct.1964 all chevrolet parts catalog and both show 3824745 L , 3824746 R as channel vent division for spt. coupe. In 64 the part was listed 63-67 , but I don't know if a 63 production part could have been different. My guess is that they are the same but checking an original early and late 63 may be only way to be sure. I didn't check archives or maybe a member who has found a difference in 63's could chime in.

I come up with the same part numbers as Mark. GM #3824745 and 3824746. According to GM, these parts were used for all C2 coupes.

However, given the part numbers, it is POSSIBLE that there was a predecessor part number used for early 1963. If so, though, I have no record of it.

Just found some old paperwork. Does 3831887/3831888 ring any bells?

Yes, these are also front door glass runs applicable to 1963 Corvettes as well as 64-67 Corvettes. They are applicable to both coupes and convertibles. For these parts, GM instructs that "20" has to be cut from the beveled end". Given these part numbers, it's also POSSIBLE that there were predecessor part numbers for 1963 but I have no record of them.

Part of the problem here is that there are several glass runs used on C2 Corvettes and parts information makes it very difficult to determine which-is-which.

            Re: Part Number assistance

I agree with Joe as it takes some educated guessing to determine what some parts are for in some GM parts listings. Parts 3831887/8 are in group 10.701 called -run assy. which is usually a rigid rail that attaches to the door. The channels group 10.686 are flexible weatherstrip type of u channel with a rolled ss bead on both sides which the glass runs in. The 1938-65 GM parts book doesn't even list those two numbers but the 74,80 and others do. Are they a run or a channel to be cut 20? In any case I've installed a number of the repro front channels and just did a 66 coupe last month. I believe owner got the channels from Paragon but LI should be good also. Channels are riveted on lower part. The top at the vent window rear weatherstrip has small bent tabs that go through square holes in both the run and the channel. You slide the vent strip down to lock both parts. I've noticed the square holes in a few replacement channels don't line up well enough when using the prepunched rivet holes and a small adjustment here assures the vent weatherstrip tabs will grab the channel.

              Re: Part Number assistance

              Joe and Mark thank you.

I'll be gathering the needed parts this spring and summer and do the restoration on both doors next fall. I have most of what I need now.

Enjoy, if you are at the National I'll see you there.

              Cheers
