    William,

Please see the inner fender photo. (2) unused holes on a horizontal line. Disregard the winters storage dust! I'm in snow country.

Thank you everyone, I am going to fill in and refinish my 2 circled pair of holes, the single circled hole I will fill and make it look like original bondo/glue or undercoating coming through.

        William,

Attached are a couple of pics of my October 1965 built 66 427/450. Just a couple of more data points for your restoration...sorry for the dust/dirt as she has been sitting a while!

        John

          William,

When you repair those holes, you may have a substantial task to make the repair look normal. I suggest you completely strip the black paint from the entire panel. It's near impossible to spot repair and make it look right. Be very careful you do NOT touch the 4 nubs of filler where the 4 SB-only Expansion Tank holes were filled at St Louis from the wheel well/backside. Those can be seen in my photos of the 67 and a few others posted by others.

This is what I do to fix holes and works well for me.....

Using a mixture of mat and resin with a black tint, fill the holes and use "press" plates on both sides to replicate the press molded appearance and with fibers seen. Try not to sand the surrounding area too smooth and keep it rough looking as original. Prep the repair area and mask it off so the repair material stays confined. The skirt is typically rough with fiberglass fibers evident so simply scratch the little hole repair area with a 40 grit paper to make it look like the surrounding areas. Repaint the entire skirt with semi-flat black, but not too thick.

Some pics of my process in This Post.

          Rich

This question about holes/dimples is for Don Anderson.

I have a 66 L72 built 2 weeks after his on Feb 13/66. Don, I see the "fill" in the 4 holes for the SB expansion tank on the rear of your RH inner fender. Can you post a close-up of these plugs? Before I realized what they were, I sanded mine off smooth when I was cleaning the engine compartment. I need to dab some bond adhesive back on those spots (I haven't blacked it out yet so I can see where they were). Or would you guys recommend I drill out the plugs and re-fill from the wheel side?

BTW Don, my RH inner fender has the 2 dimples along the top side like yours as opposed to holes that others have shown with earlier L72s. Bill
