Please review attached picture, I am finishing up assembly of my 66 425 hp car. I have circled extra holes? Are they factory, where they filed in or should I repair and refinish? Looked at a number of cars on ebay, could not tell from pictures ? Would anyone one have a picture of an unmolested 66 425hp cars right side inner fender that could be posted?

Re: 66 427/425 right side inner fender holes?
There is some confusion regarding the upper left and upper right. I have been told in several judging events in the past that they were typically dimples, not holes. Then that changed later, they said should be holes. I'm still unsure.
Now for the other holes you have circled.......I do not think they should be there. Looks like a prior owner drilled them. However, the circled area showing 2 holes.......I think one should be a dimple.
Here is a shot of a '67 skirt, similar. Note the upper left and right are not holes, they're dimples. The Small Block cars used those as holes for the expansion tank overflow hose black plastic tie wraps. But I had later been told that all cars, SB and BB, had holes there, not dimples. 1966 may be unique from 1967 regarding this skirt.

Thank you for the pictures, I see that a 67 is made a little different than my 66. You have dimples, no extra holes. Mine has 5 extra holes, from left in the circles, 1 hole, next circle 2holes, then the lower circle has 2 holes. I believe they all need to be filled and refinished, waiting for someone with a 425 HP car to post a picture.- Top

Ralph, Yes there is one post where John Hinckley says.....
"All '67 RH inner fenders had the holes near the top for the SB hose retainers - they were drilled by the supplier that molded the panel, and all cars used the same part."
But we're just not sure if 1966 was identical. The picture of the '67 I show had holes there, but I filled them in, then had to be drilled out.
I have been looking for pictures of a '66 BB car I had somewhere but I can't find it. I may have a diagram of it too, but can't find that either.

I reviewed the posts below, they all deal with the expansion tank and hose for small blocks. My circled holes are in different locations? Probably someone drilled them?- Top

William
I would hold off on filling any holes until you look at a real unmolested '66. If I remember right my '66 427/425 has a couple holes punched on the passenger inner fender similar to your photo. I will look at it tomorrow and send a photo. I've had the car 42 years and know it's totally original.

Yes your picture shows I have extra holes, my car was built 12/22/65, do you know your build date, maybe early or late the holes drilled changed? My single hole I think should be there, but the 2 groups of 2 holes each I think someone drilled for some reason.- Top

My car was built Feb 1, 1966.- Top
