Anyone got a recommendation for an excellent heat barrier for use in a 59 underneath the carpet? I see all the different types listed in the aftermarket sites and on the web, but I would like to get the performance of some of these straight from the mouth's of the people on this site that have a barrier installed. I prefer a thinner type that the original carpet will work well with. Do these barriers really help that much on heat reduction inside the car (with or w/o the top up)? I have been leaning to the 1/8" thick with the aluminum surface on one side with the ceramic cloth on the other as sold by Zip and CC, but would like opinions from other members.

Re: 1959 Carpet Heat Barrier
Al,
Back in 2008/9 I did a test for the various heat products. There's my article and another member's article on heat barrier products in the Restorer.
Hushmat blocked the most heat. https://hushmat.com/kits.html?gclid=...FdO6wAodyAEPYQ

Re: 1959 Carpet Heat Barrier
There is a long thread about this on the corvetteforum.com with lots of options from the very overpriced Dynamat to the Home Depot or Lowes products. I researched it pretty good about a month ago for both heat and sound insulation and found a product called Bquiet.com that is way less expensive than Dynamat. There web site gives comparisons to Dynamat but they give no thermal info. Dynamat states that their product is not sold for a heat barrier but rather for sound. I believe that is the case with all of them discussed in the thread I am referring to. I based my buying decision on the price, comparison to Dynamat and the fact that it comes in a roll as a peel back and stick product. There are also testimonials on the Bquiet site that will give you some good insight. In the referenced thread everybody that has used Dynamat say it DOES also make a thermal difference so I am expecting the same from the Bquiet product BUT I have not yet installed it.
Here is a link to the referenced thread.
C1 & C2 Corvettes - Need recommendations for sound/heat insulation on C-1 - Need some recommendations on sound and heat inslulation for a C-1 project. I find lots of kits for newer models but not much for a C-1. I've checked dynamite and it is available but is pricey! Any personal experiences or advice would be...- Top
