Do you remember all the "special" Coevettes over the years which folks bought new and squirreled away as an "investment"? Pace cars, anniversary models, commerrative editions, ZR-1s, ... Today, you can find ultra-low mileage examples of these at used car prices.

With that said, I wish I bought a new Ford GT as an "investment".
The C7 sales have really came back from the later C6 years. I think they are back in the 35K-45K units annually. The C6 was hit by a bad economy which didn't help. We're lucky Chevy decided to stick with the car.

The later C6 years the sales were dismal with numbers hitting a low of 11647 units in 2012. Those were numbers not seen since the C1 years, or solid axle Corvette as I think most owners prefer being called.

That year only 621 base convertibles, 478 Z06s & 404 ZR1s were built. The majority of the cars were Grand Sport Coupes, Base Coupes and GS convertibles.

I hear you on the Ford GT. Those have gone crazy.

Highly recommended for everyone. Do take time to enjoy Kentucky. Lexington is not far from the factory & museum and is a very, very nice city. The Kentucky country side is absolutely beautiful.

Hello all, I received a call last week from Derek Moore, the curator of the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. They are planning an exhibit for this coming August to celebrate 225 years of transportation. One of his questions was if we know of any local collectors who own a Kentucky-made carriage that could be loaned to the museum for the exhibit. I never thought I'd see a Horse Carriage in the Corvette Museum. A cool idea though .

            Dana,

I recommend that you refer Derek to the Kentucky Horse Park. http://www.kentuckytourism.com/thing...FU5LDQode5QOOQ. The title "Park" is an understatement - this place has EVERYTHING horses, including 2 huge museums. The larger of the two, the International Museum of the Horse which is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution has many carriages on display - from the very simple to ridiculously elaborate and ornate. I would think that they would have at least one that was made in KY. The Horse Park is near Lexington KY, not far from Bowling Green. I would hope that the Horse Park Museum would want one of their items displayed at the Corvette Museum. Hope this helps.
