'67 One of None...done just for fun!!

Please don't anyone get all wound up over this...it was just a fun exercise I did and thought I would share (certainly not scientific). While re-reading some of the statistics in Noland's CCR&TG Vol 2, I noticed that of the 22940 Corvettes produced in 1967 only 355 total small blocks with C60 & manual transmission were produced with J50 Power Brakes. This number includes both coupes and convertibles. A rather small fraction (1.55%) of total '67 production. Hypothetically, if you break the 355 number down by base engine vs L79, there would be 184 base engine (52% of small block production) and 171 L79 (48% of small block production) with this option. Further breaking down by coupe vs convertible, there would be 50 base coupes, 46 L79 coupes, 134 base convertibles and 125 L79 convertibles (coupes making up 27% of total production and convertibles making up 73%). Now, here's where the fun began for me. There were only 1423 total Ermine White Corvettes produced in 1967. Strictly mathematically speaking, that would make 384 coupes and 1039 convertibles. That would mean, if all the stars lined up, 4.5% of all coupes were Ermine White. So, here's the end result...again, just for my amusement...if one were to own a '67 Ermine White coupe with L79, C60 and manual transmission it could conceivably be 1 of 2 ever made. This doesn't take into account that manual transmissions were virtually split 50-50, with the L79, between M20 and M21. This could be a 1 of 1...or with the additional options, probably one of none. Except, I own it. I know, I need to find something better to do with my time.

Hardtop or soft top? If I get bored again, I might just drill down on yours, as well. Sounds like a very nice car. Love the white interiors.

          Gene,
Here's the basic math. 22940 '67 Corvettes produced with 14436 being convertibles (63%). Yours being a L79 with 3:55 posi (ECL EA) makes it 1 of 749 total produced (coupe and convertible), therefore 63% of 749 equals 472...you're 1 of 472. Now, take the fact that your car is Ermine White (only 1423 total painted white - 63% convertible or 897 total) that's 6.2% of total convertible production. Therefore, 6.2% of 472 is 29. You're now 1 of 29. Finally, there were only 895 hardtop only (C07) cars produced or 6.2% of total convertibles...so 6.2% of 29 makes you 1 of 2. With your white interior, dare I say 1 of one. Ain't this fun!!

Leif, it's raining in Austin, so i'm bored too. How about a 1967 J56, sidepipe, yellow/black 390 horse roadster? That probably has to be one of very few.

I remember that I've heard rare is not always desirable. Kind of like a friends 1967 300 horse air conditioned three speed roadster.

Cars & Coffee here tomorrow, but with the rain, it will be a poor turnout.

              Tim,
Good to hear from you. We had our "first Saturday of every month" Cars & Coffee last week. Tell me more about your yellow car i.e. trans, windows, rear end gearing, how many/type tops...you know, all the options. This is becoming a fun little endeavor.

Leif, you may remember it from 2016 Frisco. M20 with a 3.08 gear, sidepipes, J56, soft top car. It's a nice 39,000 mile survivor car. It's hard to redline with a 3.08. No other options aside for radio.

                      Tim,
Of course, I remember your Sunfire Yellow car...beautiful car that Top Flighted!! Here's the math (strictly math) on your yellow '67. 14436 convertibles produced of which only 531 were M20, L36 convertibles (1299 total coupe or conv with L36 and L68...63% conv = 818, 55% L36 = 531). 531 units is 5.5% of the total number of BB produced (9687 not including the 36 L88 & L89 cars) 2325 total Sunfire Yellow cars which is 10.1% of production - 63% convertibles = 1465. 10.1% of 531 = 54 yellow cars with M20, L36 Cv. 5.5% of 54 = 3. There were 247 J56 optioned cars...all BB, of which, 40% (62) were L36. That number represents 25% of the total J56 production. 25% of 3 = >1. You're officially a member of the one of none club
