Along with about 100 other little things I am fixing the constant key buzzer issue in my 1972 with tilt/tele. I did this perhaps 15 years ago with the same trouble - without the key in and door open, I get constant buzzer, acting as if the key was inserted. When I did this the last time, I found and NOS key buzzer in new condition and it worked. With my key buzzer sitting in front of me, I am wondering if the tips of the copper leafs should touch?
In this attached photo, it appears that the tips of the copper leafs (inside the plastic) actually touch and the insertion of the key pushes the long bent arms (outside the plastic) up to create the contact and trigger the alarm. Can anyone verify all of the above statement? Fwiw, the open end of the plastic had a break in it and I attempted to fix it before ordering a reproduction piece. The break gave enough slop that the leaves always touched.
Does anyone have a photo of a NOS or like new piece that can confirm this?
edit: I should add that this photo was not mine but taken from the internet to show a relatively pristine example.
