    Early T-10 Rebuild Kit

Its time to rebuild my T-10. I can go up through the gears with some help with acceleration but no chance now to go back down from 3rd to 2nd.. and it pops out of 4th gear sometimes when I let off the gas. (4:11 rear end may not help). Engine is 283 on the 1960 vette.

I am looking at buying the rebuild kit in the hyperlink below, just wondering if anyone has any comments on this kit?

Buy new Borg Warner T10 4 Speed transmission rebuild kit. For General Motors applications

    Joe,

Nice kit and you will need everything in that kit but I don't think it will fix your problem. You are going to need additional parts to keep it from jumping out of gear.
You will need to tear it down and inspect the drums and gears. That will probably be your problem.

THanks Joe, This will be my first rebuild of a T-10, not sure I know what I am looking for in terms of inspecting the gears and drums? What should I be looking for to determine what needs to be replaced?

          Joe,

Try to find a buddy that has been inside a T-10 before. The sliders, synchro rings along with the gears may be worn and have to be replaced. There are several that advertise in the Driveline for this service. They might be of help.

If you can get it apart and put it back together, all you will need is some parts to replace the worn ones. There are plenty of available parts to rebuild your T-10.
If you post the parts worn in high detail really close up we can identify the ones that need replacing.
Using the kit you posted would get you half way there.
