    67 front standard shocks

The Archives don't seem to have anything past 2007 on this subject. What's recommended today as most correct & easily available?
Is the Quanta paint still best? Thanks!

    Ralph------

There are quite a few choices. The first would be GM #88947653, aka Delco 530-315. These shocks are actually manufactured by Gabriel. They will perform very adequately. However, their configuration differs somewhat from the originals. The principal differences are the tube end sealing configuration and the fact that they have reduced diameter tube sections on both ends. Of course, "shielded" as they are by the coil springs, this may be difficult to discern once installed. They are supplied in black painted finish, so a re-paint in correct blue-gray would be advisable.

Another choice would be Monroe 5906. These will also perform quite well. They are configured very much like the originals although the tube end sealing is a little different. They are supplied in black finish so they'll need to be re-painted, too.

Still another choice would be KYB KG4450. These are also configured very close to the originals and will perform the best of the three I'm mentioning. They are supplied in gray painted finish and will need to be re-painted.

Of course, none of the above will have "numbers" or other embossments like the originals.

I consider the Quanta shock paint to be the best for standard suspension shocks.

Ralph, Americas finest out of California make a reproduction, as far a judging goes, The fronts are not easy to judge form chassis judge stand point, as they are well hidden because of the coil spring windings. If you are not crazy about spending the extra money, do as Joe says- Monroe would likely be the easiest to get your hand on. Quanta's gray paint work well.

I had a set rebuilt by Dan out of Kansas but did not need the fronts since my originals were in good shape. I'd be willing to sell them if you are interested.
