    Sprung load numbers--front springs 1971

In the latest JG under the front spring broadcast codes, it says for example that for a 454 "under 777" spring load the proper tag would be HU based on the proper spring 3931825. And over 777 it would be HV based on spring number 3931826. I've looked for ways to calculate spring loads and don't have the equipment. I've tried AMA spec sheets but haven't found there what I need. Does anyone have sprung load tables/charts? How do I determine which springs I have and what tags I need?

It's basically determined by adding the weight of each option to the sprung weight of the standard Corvette (either coupe or convertible). Unfortunately, I've never seen a table for 1971 Corvettes but tables for 1972-82 Corvettes are found in the P&A Catalogs. I would expect that a determination using the 1972 Corvette table would be identical or near identical to 1971.

      Mike,
Have a multitude of front Spring Charts (8) prior to 1971 (still looking). From info listed on these charts it seems like you MIGHT be able to ID what you have by measuring a multitude of factors. An interesting notation on chart dated 9/12/66 indicates Production springs to be marked differently (BEHR MANNING #197 green tape w black letters) as opposed to service springs (GM yellow w black letters). There follows specific instructions on how to apply tape (dimensions given etc.). I do not have '71 JG and can only guess it gives a similar description. Agree with Joe '71 would be similar to '72 chart.
