    David,

Don't think there is a disassembly manual for a 62 or any other Corvette. Just taking time to read some posts on this board will help you to get started. As far as assembly, using the AIM which can be purchased from the NCRS store will help you with part numbers and sequence of sub assemblies.
    Welcome to the NCRS.

      JR,

Thanks for the quick reply to my first post, and the welcome message. I will check out the AIM in the NCRS store.

      Thx
      David

The shop manual is designed for mechanic's use in a dealership or a repair shop. It explains how to remove - repair (sometimes disassemble) and replace major components. As part of the removal process it usually tells you what you have to remove to get to the objective component. The shop manual does not always tell you "how" to remove it - just what to remove. It is better than nothing. What ever you do - take lots of pictures, buy lots of zip lock bags of all sizes - and permanent markers.

I would like to second the importance of taking photographs before during and after disassembly. I can't tell you how many times I have referenced those photos. A 1 meg resolution is helpful so you can zoom. I learned to take 6 shots of each sub assembly. I paid attention to head markings and lengths. I think especially when you are dealing with left right assemblies like spindle supports etc where they are different. I think the most referenced photo was before I took anything apart. Good luck!

Mike Yager and Mid-America own the rights to reprint the AIMs. I do not think they are available from NCRS any longer.

Photo, document, take notes and when in doubt, ask. Also, don't throw anything away!

Unless you do this work day and night like some of our members, memory can be a tricky thing so don't think you will remember things later.

                    enjoy the process!

One more thing - if you have an AIM (Assembly Instruction Manual) - when you remove a part and bag it, put a note that lists the AIM page #, part # and narrative description in the bag with the part. Guaranteed - when you have a small mountain of bags with parts in them they all look the same.

Thanks again Ed, I can imagine it can get overwhelming with all those parts/bags even if they are marked.

                        Great suggestion!

                            Loren,

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not real sure what it looks like besides saying "Assembly Instruction Manual" and it covers my year - 62

I purchased a (service/shop?)manual 30 years ago when I first bought the car and it has a white cover with blue print of a corvette and sailboat in the background. It's in the trunk at this time.

I will search the Mid-America site.

                            Thx
                            David
