    Restorer Magazine Online Index

I have Restorer Magazines back to 1996 which I save for the technical articles. Problem is, even though I remember the subject of an article, I cant ever find the article without a long search of individual issues. Is there an online index here that I cant find? If not why not? Seems like a good idea.

If someone has instant recall and can refer me to year, volume and issue I am looking for two articles.

One has a method for installing the rubber firewall insulation keepers without poking a hole through the end.
The other one compares different heat insulation materials for installation under carpeting.

Both are fairly recent. Last five years anyway.

That's why they created and market the Restorer on CDs...I think they are sold by generation...except they date pretty quick. New ones I believe are like $45.00 but worth it if you are doing some restoration work. I know Eric (back in those days), allowed me to update my dated C3 CD for much less. But I suspect the stores is operating under new rules and don't know what those rules are.

      Greg,
The insulation article you are looking for is Volume 35#3, Winter 2009 by Gary Chesnut. I'm working on a spreadsheet with all the tech articles since I took over as editor in 2008. I should have it ready and available in a few days. Haven't come across the firewall insulation keeper article yet.

        Vinnie:

I believe the article was by Armand Filer and was published MANY years ago. In addition to using a special tool (or a cutoff screwdriver or a wooden dowel) for pushing, he recommended using fish line wrapped around the end of the stem to serve as a puller. Then some good soap/water solution for lubrication. Don't remember the date, but remember him and the article.

        Larry

PS: There is a guy in Florida that has fabricated a special tool for this task for both C1 cars and for C2 cars (different sized tool). Nothing for C3 cars that I know. I have the C2 tool. He provided them to a number of Corvette owners for beta testing. I purchased the one i have from him for use on my car/other cars in the future.

Larry, I believe Rich Mozzetta fabricated the tool you speak of and if I recall, there's probably a thread here about it and perhaps that is what the original poster is thinking about. I'll have to look for the article by Armand Filer and report back

I found the article you refer to by Armand Filer, Volume 29 #2, Fall 2002 and an update by John Hinckley Volume 30 #3

Thanks to Vinnie et all for your research and memory. I do have a version of the CD with Restorer articles but it is so old I have to get out my Apple IIe to run it. LOL 2002 and 2009 issues. How time flies. I thought they were more recent.
