    Multiple Choice

Which of the following Bias Ply tires would score the highest if judged on a 57 Corvette?

    A. Coker: U.S. Royal 670-15 2 11/16" Whitewall (Pie Crust Upper Sidewall).

    B. Coker: Firestone Deluxe Champion 670-15 2 11/16" Whitewall (Pie Crust Upper Sidewall/Zig Zag Tread/Firestone Name and
Tire Details on the Whitewall in Raised Lettering).

    C. Kelsey: Good Year Super Cushion Deluxe 670-15 2 11/16" Whitewall (Good Year Name and Tire Details on the Whitewall
    in Raised Lettering).

    D. Other? Please comment or make suggestions.

    Many Thanks,

    Bob

    Re: Multiple Choice

According to the TIMJG US Royal Air Ride, Firestone Deluxe Champion and B F Goodrich Silvertown were the only tires used in 57. Goodyears were not used. The w/w varies between 2" and 2 3/4" with the wide width on earlier models. If you are purchasing these tires new, they will have DOT marking on them and that a 3 point standard deduction because they are DOT tires. You don't see many C-1's with original tires

This gets back to the bringing more people into NCRS and judging standards. Requiring bias ply tires for judging is another area the discourages those interested in driving their Corvettes or getting them judged. Shouldn't have to swap safe modern tires you drive on for obsolete bias ply for judging.

        Pat
The Firestone Deluxe Champion Bias Ply has the lettering, size etc. on the white sidewall portion of the tire in white raised characters. Would this tire, on a 57, be penalized any judging points for anything other than the DOT markings? Also, what does TIMJG stand for?
        Regards,
        Bob

Bob - T(echnical) I(nformation) M(anual) / J(udging) G(uide) which are available through the webstore for each of the judged Corvette classes

William - tires have been a standard deduction for a number of years, and the owner can chose to be judged with "modern radial" tires on their Corvette. The amount of deduction varies and each owner must determine how they wish to move forward in the judging process. It is possible to still attain a TOP FLIGHT award with Corvette, provided other areas of the judged Corvette are under the limit of needing to score a minimum of 94%, which I believe is 270 point total deduction. Do NOT have any TIM/JG or other manuals in front of me.
