ANCO made wiper blades and wiper products. So my guess is it may be a squirter pump. I have seen only three ''foot pumps'' for windshield sqirters, and that was many years ago. Are there holes in the area in front of the windshield that confirm the car originally had ''WINDSHIELD WASHERS'' You need to buy a Judging manual and Noland Adams book .. ''CORVETTE RESTORATION, TECHNICAL GUIDE 1953-62'' You will have a much better understanding ''HOW THE CAR WAS BUILT when new.

i agree with jim, that definitely isn't an early 57 washed pedal. i can't imagine it being an air horn trigger, as an air horn would be under considerable pressure and by the looks of how the rubber bellow attaches to the main body, i'd think the pressure would blow this thing apart as soon as the air compressor was fired up. now the way its assembled, would be conducive to handling the pressure your foot would impart to this supposed washer pump trigger. mike

My guess, ANCO service replacement part. Maybe installed by the dealer when parts were hard to obtain. 57 models used a jar assembly under the hood on the driver inner fender. That washer jar is a TRICO brand hard plastic. A black rubber hose was connected to to jar and went thru the firewall where it was connected to a ''T'' fitting under the instrument panel. WASHER FOOT PUMP operated the system, and would have TRICO markings. Back in the day, I replaced hundreds of wiper blades and products both TRICO and ANCO at my service stations and garages. Today everything is China made and every car model has its own blade. Hence $45 to replace today blades. In the old days, 12'' to 18'' with a TRICO or ANCO product serviced every car model made.

Based on the 7017300 unit it would fall into the 1959-60 year model range for both solid lifter and hydraulic lifter engines.

Re: Pittsburgh area 57 Corvette race car discovered

Based on the information in my first post, does anyone have any thoughts on who might have sold the car in 1969? We have thought possibility Ed Lowther or Grady Davis? I have found that the Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania put on a lot of autocross events in the 60's. Does anyone have a good contact for that club?

Mike, I have a road race car from same SCCA region, a 1964 FI roadster driven by Ed Lowther. I have the roll bar numbers and the log books dating back to 1972 . I have contacted Pittsburg local SCCA office and could not find someone with records going back to 60s or early 70s. if you have a better contact i'd appreciate your help. Jerry

john degregory is the oldest still living early 60's pittsburg scca guy i know of. the current pittsburgh scca steel town guys aren't old enough to recall any 60's history. try john de gregory.did u try john connelly? i think thats the name of the guy that has been collecting grady davis memorabilia for the last 15-20 years. he was at a ncrs regional at seven springs back in the 90's. i don't have contact info on john connelly . good luck, mike

How about former NCRS member Clem Zahrobsky? He was very active in western PA Corvette clubs & circuit. John Degregory should have his contact info

Interesting to read about your '57 and look forward to seeing more photos. I'll mention the car to my Dad, although it's a long, long shot that he knows anything specific. He had his '60 back then and we have talked about him heading down to watch the SCCA races at Cumberland back in the day...fun stories about Don Yenko and Donna Mae Mims.

                                Thanks for sharing.
