    '67 Hood Stripe Points

When judging '67 hood stripe, how many points could you loose if the strip is not put on straight? I know there are a lot of variables here, 40 points is what available on body paint. Straight would be the big and little stripe at end of the nose hitting at the body peaks lines.

How many original stripes have you seen that were perfect? If a deduction would occur, they would need to figure out what percentage of the paint was included in the stripe application. I would think no more than 10% of the car so 4 points total for the stripe. So consider that you have an installation issue (20%) of those 4 points, you have a 1 point deduction. That's how I would judge it, but what the heck do I know?

          Gary,
The stripe dimensions are in the AIM L36 A17.

Joe, Very good analysis as usual.

Question.....Wouldn't there be a deduct if the stripe was perfectly straight, in particular, at the front nose area where it's pointed? It wasn't originally mechanically straight between both sides was it?

I suppose it makes a difference where the "crookedness" is though.

Rich, Considering the fact that ideally the stripe should be straight, I don't believe that a deduction is proper if your stripe was straight. I will tell you this, I have taped over 50 Hood stripes and have never been satisfied that any of them were either straight or symmetrical. It is close to impossible to achieve. That being said, I'm sure the guys at the factory had similar experiences trying to do it as quickly as they had to.

PS All those years in the 80's and 90's I worked in Billerica right around the corner from your shop. I wish we knew each other then.
