What is the correct orientation of the door key "teeth" on a 57. My passenger door key teeth, when inserted, point "up" and the driver door key teeth point "down". Is this correct ? Bill

Re: 57 Door key
Bill - I would expect the installation of both door locks would be such that the key teeth point down. In addition, there is a slot in the door lock case & the orientation of the slot should be down. I assume the orientation of the slot in the door lock case being down is to allow any oil, water, & whatever to "drain" from the lock & not end up in the lock cylinder & sooner or later gum up the tumblers. Re: 57 Door key
Agree, always teeth down. My rule of thumb.....
Top of key, either side: "Toward FRONT of car to GO forward(unlock to drive), toward REAR of car to NOT GO forward(lock to park it)".
It appears to me that your Pass lock assembly was installed upside down due to the cam(for the lever) on the backside being reversed 180*.
At one time, many reproduction lock sets had them reversed on both locks as their cams were installed wrong on the tumbler tabs. Very frustrating the first time I discovered that.
