Re: 64 gas gauge needle goes left when brake pedal applied
John some movement was normal on midyears, the tanks were not baffled very well and the gasoline tends to make the gauge move around over bumps and cornering. I have the same issue with my 63 and tried everything, including cleaning ground at tank.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

John check the ground at tank sender (they get rusty), maybe sourcing a nearby ground from the rear brake light bulbs. I have seen strange things happen with corvette grounds. Also check the brake lights rear and make sure there are all lite the same brightness.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

I believe you will find the gauge is not actually functioning because of poor ground, until you depress the brake pedal and it is then as mentioned earlier receiving a ground through the brake light circuit. Does the gauge read a 1/2 tank regardless of the amount of fuel in the tank?- Top
