Just to add, if using gaskets, like Joe said, avoid the waffle type gaskets that are typically included in rebuild kits. They are nearly guaranteed to blow out unless the surfaces are super flat and retorqued multiple times.

I suppose we can all only go by personal experience but in my 25+ years as a professional automotive technician I will only use(and allow my guys to use) this style of gasket if there is no other alternative avialable. Too many times I have lost time and money on come backs related to the gasket material blowing out weeks or months after installation even after care is taken to properly torque fasteners in the correct sequence.
