Too much time on my hands to think (open heart surgery on 1/20). Between 1970 and 1971 the rear bulkhead was moved forward several inches. 4? Can't really go out and measure right now. But dealer album, AMA spec sheets, etc. show no difference between the years. 5.0 cubic feet for the convertible, 6.1 for the coupe. Has anyone ever seen different specs? Like I said, too much time to think.

Best of luck with your surgery. Be sure to stick to the rehab plan. That is best for your long-term recovery. Don't ask how I know.
You have a lot of people praying for you.Terry- Top

Capacity has nothing to compare to the surgery - I assume the light at the end of the tunnel burns a little brighter and clearer now? Help me plan - is Carlisle on the menu for summer? All the best Mike, and Thank You for past Good Deeds.- Top

Re: Cargo capacity 1970 vs. 1971
Mike, You already had the surgery on Jan 20th? Thankfully it went well and you're okay.
Too much time on your hands? When your Dr says it's ok, how 'bout you get outa' the WI cold and come down here for a while. We have plenty of Corvettes to play with.
Sorry I can't help with the Cargo Capacity query, but I do have a question.....Why did they move the rear bulkhead forward?

Mike
We are all glad you have to much time on your hands!! That is a very painful recovery. Take it easy, even when you think your pain is starting to go away and try to do something, you will set yourself back on the recovery process. Trust me I know.
Take care, Rodney- Top

Re: Cargo capacity 1970 vs. 1971
Thanks for the good thoughts my friends! One valve and 3 bypasses, and better each day! Mike, if you measure from the rear bulkhead to the back of the luggage retainer (semi-vertical panel behind the seats) on a 70 convertible it is roughly 31 inches, on a 71-72 about 28. The design is also changed so that on 71-72 water into the rear plenum dumps directly from the plenum to the ground, whereas 70 dumps through a pair of rubber tubes that partially intrude into the rear bulkhead, then through the body drains, and then to the ground.- Top
