    67 Reglueing Dash

The lower front (from inside the car) of the dash was glued. There is raised area on the top of the transmission tunnel to locate it and a U shaped piece glued to the back. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to reglue/assemble this area and the dash. My thought is to use JB Weld (after roughing up the old areas of contact) and first reglue the U shaped piece and then glue the assembly to the raised area of the tunnel as I am putting in the dash. The old glue contact points are pretty distinct so I am sure I can fit the pieces correctly. If anyone sees a problem with this or has had better luck doing it another way, please let me know.

    Thanks, Jim

How about fiberglass bonding adhesive. or Loctite has adhesive (in tube) much better choice compared to epoxy. It's construction adhesive that bonds anything to anything and don't come apart........ Lowes carries it and other brands.

Gene, try PC7 epoxy sold at most hardware stores. I've used it for years and it is virtually the same material as REN and the original panel bonding adhesive used on these cars. I've used it for a number of mid year dash to trans tunnel bondings and it looks just like the factory job.

        Gene and Mark,

Thanks for the responses. Interesting, I have a couple of cans of PC7 in my wood shop. Bought it for a project several years ago. Can says shelf life is quite a bit longer than 2 years. I guess we will see. I'll use it on the dash.

Yes Bob; I had already decided to buy a couple of new cans, can't afford to make a mistake.

            Thanks, Jim

I agree. I didn't glue my '63 at the bottom of the 'waterfall'; the trim "horseshoe' secures it nicely...
