    Suggestions to repair odometer ?

On my '62 last summer the odometer was just beginning to turn to 20,000 when, as I was watching it, it stuck.
    (see the picture)
I attempted to turn it back with a drill, which succeeded but the next time I drove it and it got that same spot, it stuck again.
So, there it stayed all summer.
Now I have some time to decide what to do with it.
I previously had the speedometer rebuilt so I suppose I can send it back there for repair.
But I thought I would put it out here to suggestions so I might not have to pull the entire assembly out.
Any possible quick fixes for this?

    David,

There is a small gear on a shaft and it probably has stripped one of the plastic teeth off.

You will have to remove the speedometer and send it back to the repair station to have it fixed.

Plus your rollback attempt has probably damaged the odo & it will have to be replaced.

No stripped teeth anywhere. No damage by reversing it.
Anyone sell a replacement part with the numbers on it?
What are the metal forks on it for?

I'm assuming internal to the numbers assembly.
i agree that appears to be where the problem is.
I've ordered a new one from CC.
            Time will tell.

I have the new odometer wheel to install.
              Anybody been there?
Can I set the mileage prior to install or do I wait till it is installed?

Ok so with joes help I replaced the odometer and set it to 20,000.
The only question I wanted to double check was the wiring on the ignition switch.
The two pink wires... one goes to acc,
the other goes to the unmarked terminal correct?
there is a third terminal marked Bat. That one stays empty. Correct?

                      This should help...
Its for '60 but shouldn't have changed up through '62..
