Re: Please help me identify these small parts for my 68

Thanks Edward, I think the hole is too big for a front shock bushing retainer, but it's looking more and more like a rear shock bushing retainer. Upon further review, I believe you are correct that Photo 4 is a door lock cylinder retainer and not a brake line retainer clip. Photo 7 is not a wire loom as the holes are too small and there's no provision for getting the wire into the loom.

    Keep the ideas coming.

    Thanks.

I was seeing that the cylinder numbers for the 1,3,5,7 which lead me to believe they held the plug wires, I was thinking that the loom fit in the cut out of the dist. shield/ mounting bracket?

Thanks Ed, it's hard to get perspective from a photo, but the holes are half the diameter of a normal plug wire plus there's no split in the rubber to work the wires in to the rubber block. I'm still thinking vacuum system.

          Thanks for the ideas.

The parts shown in photo #2 are not the rear shock bushing retainers used on any 1963-82 Corvette. Actually, I don't think these retainers once resided on a 1968 Corvette. You will note that they appear to be NEW and never installed.

As far as the other parts are concerned, I agree with the other responders.

Thanks Joe. Any idea on the last photo? I don't think it's a spark plug wire retainer for the reasons I have previously stated. Any help on that one would be appreciated. It's possible that's not a Corvette part either.

I don't know what the last one is. On the one hand, it looks like a spark plug wire grommet, especially because of the 1, 3, 5, 7 embossments (the cylinder numbers for the left side of Chevrolet V-8 engines). On the other hand, the lack of slits at each hole would make it impossible to insert the wires. I don't recognize it as any grommet used for the spark plug wires on a Corvette.

Thanks Rich. I appreciate the response. I thought it was something with the vacuum system. So this would be under the dash? Correct? Oh and by the way, I have no idea why it's it's not on my car as I have no recollection of replacing it but my vacuum system does work.
