Thinking of having my "car" judged in SA

    Guys,

I live in SA and will definitely be attending this years national meeting. I'm thinking of having my car judged but there's just one catch...it will only be a rolling chassis (I hope) by then. I will be ready to lower the body back on it probably in a couple of months but what better time to get the chassis judged then when the body is off? Has anyone ever done this? Is it allowed? I realize there isn't a way to get any award (top flight, etc.) but I'm not necessarily looking for that right now. I would just like to get the ultimate experts to weigh in on how I've done while I can still correct most of what they find rather easily. Appreciate your thoughts on this.

Only registered, insured, running cars can be flight judged. Perhaps think about bringing it to the Las Vegas National convention in July 2018, but only after having received a 3rd Flight or better award at a Chapter or Regional meet.

Ok thanks for the info. Maybe I can get a couple of the chassis judges to come over to my shop one evening to look it over with the promise of a nice steak dinner! Any takers?

At the Hampton Roads, VA National we had a 63 rolling chassis on display. It was unique as it was an A/C car. The car was not judged but the owner did have many judges voice their opinions.

Saying that, there must be a process/fee to bring the chassis to San Antonio.

        Good Luck

Michael...why not get in touch with someone from the Chapter and register to display it at the convention, then you will have many eyes looking at it...and if it's a year of the '67, they probably will be even more interested in having it there.

At our 2016 National we had a 1967 rolling chassis on display. We needed to clear it through David Brigham NJC. I would suggest you send him an e-mail and ask.

If Dave Brigham has no objections, we have plenty of room in the exhibit hall for your rolling chassis. we will be in exhibit hall 2 at the convention center.

As an old chassis judge, a steak dinner sounds great. I would be glad to look it over wherever it is at the National. And after a few too many steak dinners, it gets harder every year to crawl under the cars, so a rolling chassis would be great!

                  Michael,
You did a fine job of crawling under mine at the Lone Star Regional this past October

Thank you Leif, but alas that was a few steak dinners ago, so I have to get ready for the next judging in Phoenix next month and lay off for a while. By July, I should be OK for one more........

Mike - It's amazing what you can do at those lower altitudes. Pete

It's true Pete, that additional atmospheric pressure can compress many things.....
