1954 turn signal canceling

When driving and using the signals, it doesn't come back to exactly center which causes the right tail light not to work when the brakes are applied. I have to physically center the lever by hand a tad to get it to center. Any thoughts on a fix that gets the cam back to center? These things don't work all that well even with new stuff. I even have a little white lithium grease on the friction points. Thanks again.

The bell housing is often oblong, be sure the turn signal clicks into detent when using turn signal. If this is correct, applying more tension to cancelling, return springs should correct problem. Again obvious click when setting turn signal followed by obvious click when cancelling when turning wheel to return lever. The signal switch has 2 heavy wires in the hub for return springs. These can be opened by hand to increase tension.

the aftermarket turn signals for our cars is poor

you can also try to improve the metal cancel bar.

Thanks Lynn and Chris. Ill try these remedies. The signals work good except for getting back to center.
