Want to get a brake bleeder adapter for my Motive Bleeder so that I can bleed the brakes in my 67 Corvette with a dual master cylinder. Just do not know which one to purchase. Help please.
Which Motive Brake Bleeder Adapter

Re: Which Motive Brake Bleeder Adapter
It will be the 1105 adapter-you'll also need to buy a large C clamp from your favorite hardware store to clamp it down. The chains and j clamps that come with the motive power bleeder likely won't work. Also, put an old towel under your master cylinder as you can get leakage (even when sealed) particularly with a power brake car due to the angle of the master cylinder.- Top

The adapter is the "Achille's Heel" of the Motive Products power bleeder, especially with respect to the 1967-82 Corvette master cylinders. I REALLY wish there was a better adapter available, even if it cost more than the bleeder, itself. This is particularly important if one is using glycol-based brake fluid (i.e. DOT-3 or -4). You really don't want to be dealing with "squirting" or "leaking" brake fluid since some always seems to get on some painted surface. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: Which Motive Brake Bleeder Adapter
Does the 1105 Motive adapter have a quick disconnect between the adapter and the Motive Bleeder line?
I ask because I have a Schwaben pressure bleeder which is great for European cars that I want to use on my 67'. For European cars you simply replace the master cylinder cap with the bleeder cap and attach the quick disconnect. Hoping I could use the same approach using the Motive adapter.- Top

Re: Which Motive Brake Bleeder Adapter
Ralphie,
I just release the pressure at the top of the supply jug by unscrewing the cap. It has always been filled but not overfilled to create a mess when I remove the MC adapter.
It always takes me more tome to jack up the car and remove the tires/wheels (good time to rotate them) than it does to actual do the bleeding.

The Motive Products adapters do not have a conventional quick-connect at the adapter. Instead, they have a simple brass fitting at the adapter to which is connected a length of clear tubing. At the end of the tubing is another NPT brass fitting. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe,
The adapter referenced above is the new metal (aluminum?) design. It is 1000x better than the plastic one.
A large C-clamp to hold it in place, and it works just as well as you'd want. Pictures show it with the chains, but mine did not come with any. If they do, throw them in your metal recycle pile and get the C-clamp.
If you don't have the metal one, buy it. Not only does it not leak around the edges, but I have found that the pedal feedback after bleeding is now better than ever.

Yes, I believe the metal adapter is manufactured by K-D Tools or EIS. Some of the ones I've seen even have a male quick connect fitting. That would mean adding a female quick connect fitting to the Motive Products bleeder line but that's no big deal, at all. I think these metal adapters are cast aluminum. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
