Did all 1975 corvettes have smog equipment originally, when the car had the M40 auto? I was thinking only 4 speed cars were so equipped.

Re: 75 smog equipment
YES. It was the first year of the Catalytic Convertor. The duel exhaust was diverted into a single pipe , then the ''convertor'', and then back to duel exhaust.
Also the new electronic H.E.I [High Energy Ignition] distributor was standard equipment . And the EGR [ Exhaust Gas Recirculation] was also standard. The only optional high performance engine was the L-82. It was a $336.00 option and 2372 cars had the motor. NOT IN CALIFORNIA, however as it did not meet strict CARB Emmission laws. THE GOVERNMENT took over in these days, and not until 1982 when cross fire fuel injection appeared, did the Corvette get its performance back. Finally, in 1990 the LT-1 engine with 32 valve led the HP party.Over 80 Corvettes of fun ! Love Rochester Fuel Injection 57-65 cars. Love CORVETTE RACE CARS

I agree. ALL 1975 Corvettes were originally equipped with air injection reactor system, catalytic converter, EGR, and early fuel evaporation system.
By the way, the 1990 32 valve engine was LT4, not LT1.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
