    1963 AFB carb needing restored

Suggestions on an NCRS quality AFB restoration that doesn't take forever?

    Thanks

Jeremy, have you looked locally? sometimes there are specialty shops that perform this.

Kuntz in St Louis would be my choice.

Phil at Custom Rebuilt Carbs in New Jersey did mine. There were very good, knowledgeable and timely.

Bob Kuntz was trying to sell his business a few months back; I hope he sticks with it though..
Chuck Smith is excellent as is Daytona Parts in Florida...

My opinion from my experience, FWIW; people in NJ tend to mix up internal parts or leave them off altogether. Secondly, look at the examples the vendors may have on display at shows or swap meets (if you can). Many over restore specially when it comes to the finish on the housings (what media they used to clean and refinish them). You want to return them to like new appearance. Same goes for the plating on the throttle mechanisms. To be honest, and I hate to say this, but the best examples I ever saw at shows were from "Chicago Corvette". The best housing work I ever got was from "All American Carburetors" here in Florida, but I didn't like their plating work. Their turn around time was great.

"Ditto" that there's good or bad?

Jerry did an entire coverage of restoring one's carb. His presentation was a Holley but same steps are required. If you do, do your own work you have nobody to blame incorrect work on. And above all is MORE REWARDING.
