Water pump for Corvette 1971-82 question

    Hello,

I have got a question about a water pump I have bought for replacement for a Corvette 1979 (Zip-Corvette WP-101).

The hole in the red circle on the attachment is blind. I have read that it should be bored for some bypass. Should it be left blind or bored?

    What is this pin for?

Thanks a lot for your replies!

I have found out the hole is not blind actually. So that is sorted out.

But what is that pin for I really don't know ;-/

      Josef------

The hole at the bottom of the waterpump leg is for INTERNAL bypass. The pin is provided for use with engines using EXTERNAL bypass so that the internal bypass can be plugged. All 1972-82 Corvette small block waterpumps have provisions for both internal and external bypass (the external bypass is the fitting on the top of the pump which is plugged on Corvettes). All 1968-82 Corvette small blocks use internal bypass. So, you do not want to plug the hole on the bottom of the leg with the pin. Discard it or save it for something else.
