73 Heater/AC Control Vacuum Hoses Question

Would anyone have any ideas as to why the vacuum hoses are attached to the right side on this 73 AC car heater control? The car is a coupe. This came up over on the CF and it's peaked my interest. The owner says he loses vacuum when the left wheel is turned to HTR, or the right wheel is on 'C'. Astro Ventilation isn't functional on an AC car, the rear vents are blocked off. I have attached a photo below of the control. I checked my 73 AIM and there shouldn't be vacuum hoses on the right side of an AC car. However, they were present on the right side wheel control on a non AC car to control the rear AstroVent door in the rear.
    Thanks,

That does not look like a 1973 control.

      Hi Ralph,
I'm pretty sure it is correct for an AC car.
To answer part of my own question here!
I did get some information back from the owner of the car as to where the hoses were leading to on the right side valve assembly in question.
The car definetly doesn't have Astro Ventilation. Therefore it is an AC car. The top nipple vacuum hose on the right is the vacuum source, the middle nipple is vented, and the bottom nipple hose goes to the heater water flow actuator mounted low down on the outside of the firewall in the engine bay. Of course, the right side thumb roller wheel that activates the valve on that side also operates the "Bowden" cable, which operates the temperature door in the selector duct assembly. So, with all this being said why doesn't the 73 AIM show any of this on the right side of the Heater/Control unit on AC cars? This car is a very early 73, it's VIN is 00045. August 1972. I am wondering if the 72 AIM would show these hoses connected to the valve on the right side of the control for AC cars? Maybe someone reading this will kindly check the 72 AIM and post a picture.
      Thanks,
      Jimmy

For me your control heater isn't for an AC car. Is your AC fonctionnal? Do you have all the units needed for a factory AC car?

After looking at your album ,some engine pictures shows that you have a non AC car (no compressor,no AC box) ....Then your heater control setup is correct

            Hi Laurent,
I appreciate your reply. Yes, I know my car isn't an AC car. The controller above isn't from my car. It is from a 73 Coupe that is an AC car and therefore does not have functioning Astro ventilation. The question here is why are those two vacuum hoses and port installed on this AC/Controller. Most if not all that I've seen for AC cars have nothing attached on the right side. All the right thumb wheel on most AC cars just controls the cable. (as illustrated in the 73 AIM diagram above.) Those right side hoses above are normally only found on non AC cars. They control the rear vacuum canister on functioning Astro- Ventilation cars which this car does not have. The owner was having vacuum issues as described above and posed the question on the CF. He did explain where those right side hoses went on his car.
Sorry, for the confusion. I've included a photo of my Non AC car heater control for comparison.
            Regards,

The owner has probably replace the AC unit with a non AC unit and modify the vacuum system but I am bit curious to know if the AC really works in this car....

No his AC is not working properly. Also said that the right control wheel is stripped and not working. So now going to order entire controller new, and route all the hoses correctly.
                Take care!
