C1 Windshield gasket wrinkles on dashpad (1962)
I am fighting to get my windshield interior gasket lip to lay flat across my new dash pad....the driver side is very nice, the passenger side is wavy. The dashpad has the very thick felt like pad close to the edge and several members have told me that is a problem....what tricks have you tried that worked on this problem for those of you who have been to the movie

Where did you get the dash pad from? I didn't have any felt like pad on mine. You might try a steam gun, but if the edge is already glued down I'm not sure how much good it will do. What did you glue the overlap down with? Did you use a heat gun on the overlap as you were gluing it down. I'm assuming you already had the windshield on, did you take any pictures of it?- Top

Actually, where did you get the rubber from ? Lots of posts on the CF on this topic and it was determined that the Corvette Rubber piece was closest to correct and easiest to fit nicely... That pad doesn't look any different than my Romeo Engineering pad at the front on my '61 and the Corvette Rubber 'cover' gasket went on fine with no wrinkles...- Top

Re: C1 Windshield gasket wrinkles on dashpad (1962)
Dino,
Are the wrinkles caused by the dash pad......or the rubber not stretched enough?
When did you get the rubber? Several years ago CRC had rubber that was several inches too long and it exacerbated the wrinkle issue in the corners. Info HERE.
If it's the foam edges of the dash pad, you will have to lift the front edge of the pad along the entire length, then carefully trim the "slag" of the foam away to eliminate the top corner high spots/wrinkles. The rubber wants the pad to be perfectly flat. See the last 10 or so photos in HERE.
