66 l36 oil pan

In putting back together the oil pan I do not remember seeing an O ring or a seal on the dip stick tube where it meets the tube going into the pan. It did not seem to be that tight of a fit, Did I miss something or is there nothing there .

There's supposed to be a seal there. I've seen these seals as both a conventional style o-ring and a "square" cross section o-ring (like small block valve stem seals). I think either one will work fine.
