Does anyone know how to determine if the 1967 Stinger Hood is original on a car?

Re: Stinger Hood
Small blocks had small block hoods and big blocks had big block hoods. Understand they were never switched going out the door from GM.
Small-block cars with factory-installed big-block hoods never happened; it's one of those "legends that won't die". John Hinckley- Top

Re: Stinger Hood
And I guess the story is true that no big block cars in '67 with that hood, came out of AO Smith?Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: Stinger Hood
For fun, I looked at my 11/81 Parts Book today.
While all mid-year hoods are different, three service hoods were offered (with notes about moving the "hood prop" in some cases.)
3857453 small block, C2 flat hood at $316
3874793 65-66 396 and 427 hood at $316
6263573 for 1967 427 bug blocks at $316
All were found in parts group 8.000 with the name "Panel, hood"https://MichiganNCRS.org

Re: Stinger Hood
OK, not that I believe this an all, but I have heard urban legends of early '67 BB cars with stinger hoods that came from AO Smith, and that some small block cars got the hoods, but without the paint stinger, during some few days of '67 production........Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
