    Anyone restoring/refreshing a 57 that's needs/wants a PG

Just posted an item for sale in the Classified C-1 engine/parts section. Powerglide for a 57 dated A18-7. I don't need it and its looking for a new home. Just wondered if this could work in passenger car dimensionally also as it may give me a wider base to market to. It came out of a 58 Corvettec several years ago that turned into a restomod. My first PG corvette out of many and I have to tell you this is a pleasure to drive. The seniors and the ladies just love it at Cruise nights. Where is the market value on one of these. Trying to reach a PG enthusiast for some of the answers. P

I spent a good bit of time playing with Powerglides for 56-57 passenger cars and Corvettes.

The real value is in the Corvette unique parts. They would be:

    Tailhousing (with shifter mounting provisions)
    Trans mount bracket
All of the neutral safety switch stuff
The gear selector lever (with tab for neutral safety switch rod)
Torque converter (if it is the corvette version with 36 bolts, as opposed to passenger car version with 18 bolts)

The rest of the stuff is pretty much the same as passenger car parts.

56-57 passenger car powerglides are almost "give-away" parts.

If you can wait for the right person, you should do OK on this.

      Thanks Ed.
Some good info especially the 36 bolts tip. Everything else seems to be in place. Hopefully with the DB and Classifieds something might develop.
      i know somebody needs this.

Might want to put it on Corvette Forum as well.

I posted this back in September of last year. My estimates were based on actual sales and / or parts that I bought or sold.

The rest of it (the actual powerglide) will depend on how good it is. Recently rebuilt? With paperwork to document the rebuild?

Again, thanks Ed. I wish I had this info and contact last year before this swap took place. I'll post on the forum as well.

did you ever figure out what the changes are between a 188 and 243 converter housing?

John, I never pursued it any further. Still sounds like a topic worthy of research.
